Five gorgeous thatched jungalows with open air en-suite bathrooms accommodate 17 people. Have a shower under the glorious southern night sky and its millions of African stars! This is complimented by a kitchen, lounge and dining room in a rondawel. The treehouse and pool with the ‘bush spa’ or ‘tickle tank’ on the sundeck have constant hot water and make enjoyment of the Big Baobab extra special. Forthcoming attractions include a long awaited pub and restaurant. Doug and Heather van Heerden bought the farm in 1990 and cleared half, planting mangoes and Palm trees. The tree is important both historically and ecologically and is home to many animals and birds, as well as providing food for many others. The van Heerdens fiercely protect the tree and the surroundings – woe betide anyone who doesn’t share their views! Doug, being a motorbike fanatic his whole life, has built some exciting off road tracks for motorbikes and quad bikes on the farm. One is an 11km track criss-crossing Sunland farm (110 ha) and incorporating a tricky, seasonal river. Bring your own bike or hire a quad from us and have some extreme fun. |
